CE Benefit for HBA Members
Builder Members & Licensed Contractors,
By now many of you have received several communications that many licensed contractors will have to show evidence of continuing education (CE) credits to renew your license in 2022 and beyond.
The good news for HBA members.
The Home Builders Association of Tennessee is the approved professional association and is authorized to grant our members continuing education credit hours for their current and past participation.
If you are a member of a Tennessee Home Builders Association, you have already earned Continuing Education credits. HBAT will produce certificates for our members showing you (and your company) have earned the required 8 hours of continuing education for your current and past participation in your local HBA and HBAT. Must have active membership by November 30, 2021.
Who needs proof of continuing education?
All companies licensed after January 1, 2009 are required to show proof of continuing education, when they renew their license starting in 2022. There are over 3,300 licensed contractors in Tennessee who will be required to show proof of CE credits. You may also be on the list if you did not timely renew your license after 2009 or reorganized your official business name.
You can search you license at verify.tn.gov - if your license's Origin Date is after January 1, 2009, you need to provide proof of CE credits. If you disagree with your origin date, contact the Tennessee Board for Licensed Contractors.
Important Details on this Member Benefit.
• Pay your HBA dues on time. Members who drop their membership will not receive full credit in future years.
• Subscribe to HBAT TN Builder News emails. • Participate in local HBA meetings and activities. You can earn additional credit hours when your local hosts an education session.

· Do you know a licensed contractor who would prefer not to waste 8 hours of their workday or weekend sitting in class getting continuing education?
· Do you know a licensed contractor who would benefit from being a member of your HBA?
Many of your sub-contractors and business partners are Licensed Contractors. They will need continuing education too. Encourage them to join your local HBA and earn credits throughout the year.
Otherwise, they will have to waste a day in class – which means they will not be on the job producing the work you need from them.
